The Summer Opera Scenes program is a 10-day intensive training program beginning August 10, 2011, that culminates in two performances on August 20 & 21 at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts in Luray, Virginia. In addition to the staging of the opera scenes, instruction is provided in voice, acting technique, and movement.

Tuition for the program is $500.00 and there are a few partial scholarships available. Housing is provided. Students will be responsible for their own meals and transportation to Luray.

Deadline for submissions of application and recording is April 22, 2011, and can be sent c/o BRYT, PO Box 614, Luray VA 22835.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance by May 5, 2011. Once accepted, a non-refundable deposit of $150.00 is required by May 13, 2011, to hold your place in the program. The remainder of tuition is due no later than August 1, 2011.

The repertoire list will be sent to participants no later than July 1, 2010, along with additional paperwork. Participants are responsible for learning their music prior to arrival for the scenes program and should arrive memorized.

A detailed schedule and housing information will be sent out August 1.

Announcing Luray Opera Theater

The newly created Luray Opera Theater will be launching our first major program in under two weeks! Our cast of 10 young artists will be spending an intensive week and a half of lessons and rehearsals at the BB&T Center for the Performing Arts, culminating in two performances on August 14th and 15th. We are featuring scenes from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Nozze di Figaro, Verdi’s Traviata and Rigoletto, and
